Review: The Things We Do

The first review we've received for our new album "The Things We Do" (now available on iTunes!).

"Holy shit.
That is all I kept thinking when listening to [.DESCARGA.]‘s new EP The Things We Do (due August 9, 2011).  From the perspective of an outsider, it seemed as if the band spent the last year or so in a state of transition.  There were a couple of line up changes with the most notable being the addition of drummer Anthony Macias.  He has been the game changer for these veterans of the latin alternative community.  The Things We Do kicks off with The Funeral with Hex sounding like Eddie Vedder before he sold his soul for a ukulele." Upcoming Performances: Abbey Pub & Joe's Bar

After New York, we've done a few shows here and there, in Chicago and out of state, and now we're getting ready to officially celebrate our new album "The Things We Do,"  (available on iTunes). We have a show, hosted by 89.5FM Vocalo.org (Chicago Public Media/WBEZ) this coming Sunday, August 28th at Joe's Bar (940 W. Weed Street) in the rockin' outdoor patio. It's an early show, 6-9PM, so there are no excuses. Joining us will be Chicago band >>radiant devices<< and the evening will be MC'd by none other the man himself, Jesse Menendez. Let's do this!

I'll also be collaborating with Mexico City's Kampion for next weekend's Electronic Music Festival (FMEL). My gig is Friday, August 26th at Abbey Pub. Also performing at Latinsizer,  Nortec Collective Presents: Clorofila and more. Check out the line-up, workshops and more at fmelchicago.org or Enchufate.

See you at the next event.

Performance Updates & NYC for LAMC

I'm heading out to New York City for this year's Latin Alternative Music Conference. This is my first time checking out this event and I can't wait! I'm also playing while I'm out there, hitting the stage at D'Antigua with my band [.DESCARGA.] and DJing a few sets between bands.

We return Saturday, July 9th and that night I'll be mixing it up live at Double Door for the Hello Seahorse! performance.

It's going to be a busy summer! Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming events, concerts and those crazy parties you know we like to throw. You know how we do.

Band Recording

We, [.DESCARGA.], are spending the weekend out in Wisconsin recording some new songs for your listening pleasure. Our studio of choice is Howl Street Recordings, with Hochstetler handling his business the only way he knows how. Things are going great!

After this weekend's recording we'll be working on upcoming performances taking place out of state. We're hoping to hit the east and west coast before the end of the year. Hit me up if you're out in those areas so we can meet up while we're out there.

I've got some other great news to share once I return from Wisconsin. Keep posted to this blog and my Twitter @maciasthedj for updates on upcoming gigs and new releases.

Show: Debonaire Social Club - Echonine

It was great to play at Green Dolphin on Thursday for The Pinker Tones show. What a great band with tons of energy, definitely a band after my own heart. They've got a dance sensibility with a mod rock attitude...musicians and song writers who like to get down and dirty and sweat. It was great.

Some of the artists I included in my two sets from that night included Fever Ray, Gemini Club, Miami Horror and Dragonette. Links to videos are included below. Check them out and show them love.

Make sure to check out RatioNation's page for upcoming events, and follow The Pinker Tones on their site as they continue their US Tour.

My next performance is this Thursday with Echonine
